Sleep Apnea & Snoring

Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is the most common sleep disorder. Sleep Apnea is a serious disorder that causes your breathing to stop because the airway becomes completely blocked, usually for 10 to 30 seconds at a time.

This causes pauses in breathing, snoring and gasping for breath.

Sleep apnea is a serious sleep disorder that can be treated with a CPAP machine. A CPAP machine is a device that helps keep airway open by blowing air into your airway while you sleep. The air pressure used to treat Sleep Apnea allows the airway to stay open and the lungs to expand normally during sleep.

Snoring is another common problem that can cause sleep issues and can be treated with a CPAP mask or a surgery that may include cutting of the soft palate and tongue muscles. Snoring occurs when the soft tissue of your throat vibrates during sleep, making it difficult for you to breathe in an efficient manner. Snoring can also cause low blood oxygen levels in your brain which could lead to memory loss, reduced attention span and other health issues as well.

CPAP machines are designed to create positive pressure within your nose by blowing pressurized air through a hose into an attached mask that fits over your face while you are sleeping at night. This causes the soft tissues inside your nose and mouth to vibrate instead of collapsing inward on themselves, blocking off the passage of air through your nasal passages. This creates negative pressure within the nose, causing it to collapse outward during inhalation until it fills again with air from outside the body via an attached hose connected from an attached ventilator or breathing tube which delivers outside air into your nose through different sized holes in an attached mask.
